Polyserve Power Up Procedure

From athena

REMEMBER:

First, power up Athena0 (the head node)

To start the disks:

  • First, make sure the power switches in the Clariion controller are in the OFF position
(two switches at the rear of Rack 1, Slot 37)
  • Then, power up the PDUs in the disk rack. This will turn on all the disks except enclosure FC0
  • Wait 5 minutes to ensure the disks are all up and running (check the lights on the front of the box
  • Then turn on the power to the Clariion controller (Rack 1, Slot 37)
  • Wait 5 minutes

To start the Polyserve nodes:

  • The polyserve nodes will not restart if power fails!!! (No AC restore in BIOS)
  • FIRST START THE DISKS (see above)
  • THE CLUSTER HEAD NODE MUST ALREADY BE RUNNING because it provides DNS and a default route
  • Start Athena1 first, wait for it to fully boot (via keyboard/display)
  • Once the first Polyserve node is running and has all its filesystems mounted, start the others
