Emergency Shutdown Procedure
From athena
The ATHENA EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE shall be (idiot proof and for the moment):
1) Take the 7930 key on the 4 inch ring on the side of the mailboxes by the CENPA front office. (Athena staff, please exchange any 7934 CENPA key you may have obtained earlier for your personal 7930. The 7930 will open most exterior doors and the computer room also.)
2) Unlock the door and walk into the computer room 170.
3) Find the large disconnect with foot-long red and black handle on the wall near the single door.
4) With both hands ON TOP of the handle, pull it toward you and push it all the way down. It will SNAP the last 40 degrees, so keep your hands ON TOP and not between handle and case.
ATHENA team:
Please make any script changes so that this simple procedure will cause a proper graceful shutdown of the remainder of ATHENA!
Suggested shorter alternate for mounting on wall switch (since they're already there, they don't need to be told to get a key):
Emergency Shut Down for floods, lack of cooling or fire:
Place hands above (not around) Black/Red handle.
Press down firmly
As it passes below 2/3rds of its travel, it will suddenly snap down
(avoid having your fingers beneath it)
(then please call Dick: 206-789-7095, Doug: 206-368-9350 or Richard Coffey: 206-359-5046 )
