Power Up Procedure

From athena

  • Turn everything off downstream
  • Turn on main breaker
  • Make sure you set the compute nodes breakers off
    • Rack 3 -- 21,22,39
    • Rack 4 -- 4,3,45
    • Rack 5 -- 10,9,52
    • Rack 6 -- 16,15,28
  • Make sure you set the RC unit breakers off
    • RC1A -- 56
    • RC2A -- 55
    • RC4A -- 49
    • RC5A -- 44
  • Make sure you set the UPS breaker off
  • Flip the UPS breakers off for rack 1 and 2
  • make sure the Clariion RAID controller is also turned off (take a picture)
  • Check chiller, open valves if needed
  • Switch disconnect on the wall to ON
  • Look through rear main PDU access panel to see if the input breaker is off/on/intermediate
    • If not ON, Open locked rear PDU door and reset the EPO circuit:
        • Caution! High Voltage!
      • At lower left of open rear door, press Test/Armed switch to "Test"
      • Close rear door, open circuit breaker access door,
      • Cycle breaker down (off) then up (on).
  • Power up RC units (bkrs 44,49,55,56)
  • Power up UPS (breaker 46,48)
  • Verify UPS operation by its front panel
  • Use UPS front panel (->Control->"Turn UPS output ON"->Yes) to activate its output.
  • At rear of UPS, turn on breakers for Rack 0, verify water sensor power.
  • At rear of UPS, turn on breakers for Rack 1 and Rack 2
  • Power up Athena0 and Athena9
  • Check RC units to verify cooling is happening.
  • Close room doors.
  • Follow Polyserve Power Up Procedure (Jan 22nd: not A6, A7, A8)
  • Return to rear of main PDU.
    • Open rear panel.
    • Verify that both lamps to right of Test/Armed switch are off
      • (if "Tripped" lamp is on, correct that Emergency Off condition)
    • Set switch from "Test" to "Armed"
    • Close and lock rear panel
  • Power up the compute rack breakers (3,4,9,10,15,16,21,22,28,39,45,52)
  • Power up the nodes if necessary (r4 n16 requires "F1" key .. twice)
  • Close all rack doors
  • Check the nodes have booted properly by using Ganglia or "cluster-ps" command
  • Email users...
